Release Notes

Feature Requests

Several improvements have been requested and will be made asap. Please send additional requests to brad@beyondthecube.ca

The next release will contain:

  • Corridor mapping
  • Grid flights with terrain follow or pre-programmed slopes.
  • Save the last flight when closing the app so it can be resumed.

Development Requests:

  • Don’t continually issue flight distance/altitude limit warnings for flights near limits
  • Add more room around Start Flight button
  • Mission estimates to include initial climb/landing times.

Known Issues

  • Mavic 2 drones and certain iOS devices cause app crashes in v4.9.5. A new workaround has been submitted to the app store and will be available over the next 2 days. This fix turns off the FPV view on these drones. A long-term fix and FPV support for Mavic 2 drones will be available next week.
  • Very long flights (> 30km) generate mission errors. There is an undocumented flight validation in some DJI drone firmware versions. If you are planning long flights you will needed to ensure they meet this validation: The total waypoint distance is less than 30 km, or the total waypoint distance + current location to the first waypoint + last waypoint to the home point totally is less than 40 km.

Flight School

POI Cable Cam Flight Using The Default POI
  • Start a flight and clear the current flight plan.
  • Fly the drone to one end of the cable cam flight path and long tap the map screen to add a waypoint.
  • Fly the drone to the opposite end of the cable cam flight path and long tap the map screen.
  • Fly the drone to a POI or the position where you will be standing.
  • Use the icon in the lower left corner to cycle through and view waypoint params from the map view.
  • Press the play button and select Repeat as the Finish Action and POI-DJI as the Heading Mode.
  • Start the mission.
POI Cable Cam Flight Using Preplanned Waypoints
  • Plan a flight while disconnected from your drone.
  • Tap the map at your POI or the position where you will be standing to add a waypoint marker.
  • Tap the newly created marker (last step) and select POI Only as the POI, set the correct altitude you want to focus on.
  • Tap the map at one of the cable cam flight path ends to add a waypoint marker, tap the newly created marker to adjust the flight altitude for this waypoint.
  • Tap the map at the other end of the cable cam flight path.
  • Use the icon in the lower left corner to cycle through and view waypoint params from the map view.
  • Press the play button and select Repeat as the Finish Action and POI-DJI as the Heading Mode.
  • Start the mission.
